CIS 2011 Annual Meeting, May 19-22, 2011, Chicago, IL

CIS Annual Meeting - The Science and Practice of Human Immunology

May 19-22, 2011
Chicago, IL

The 2011 CIS Annual Meeting was held on May 19 – 22, 2011 at the Swissôtel in Chicago. The Annual Meeting started with an outstanding opening keynote delivered by Max Cooper, MD of Emory University on the "Evolution of the Adaptive Immune Response." The meeting was broad and multi-disciplinary with sessions on the most recent aspects of T cells, B cells, innate immunity, sequencing, flow cytometry, immunotherapy of cancer, and new diagnostics. The format of single plenary sessions kept the meeting focused and provided a core of information to keep conversations lively during the breaks.

New to this year's Annual Meeting were Corporate-Sponsored Symposia, which gave supporters the opportunity to sponsor an entire educational session, including topic and speaker selection (with organizing committee approval). Both Baxter Biosciences and CSL Behring held exciting and well attended Corporate-Sponsored Symposia at the 2011 Annual Meeting.

The success of the Annual Meeting was in large part due to the efforts of its outstanding Program Committee. The Program Committee co-chairs, Drs. Steven Holland and Daniel Adelman, thank the Program Committee for its energy and effort in assembling a broad spectrum of cutting edge topics that spanned science to practice. We extend our gratitude to all the session chairs and speakers!

Lastly, we would like to extend our appreciation to the Annual Meeting supporters, Abbott Laboratories, All Children's in St. Petersburg, Baxter Biosciences, CSL Behring, Grifols, Kronus, Kyowa Hakko Kirin in California, Inc, KKC/LIAI, MedImmune, and the Robert A. Good Society for helping to make this important meeting possible.

Please mark your calendars for the 2012 CIS Annual Meeting on May 16 - 20, 2012, at the Swissôtel, Chicago.  The North American Primary Immune Deficiency National Conference will be held as part of the CIS 2012 Annual Meeting, on May 17 – 20, 2012.

Sincerely,

Steven M. Holland, MD
