CIS School in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases

The School in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases took place at the Hotel Santa Fe, March 14-18, 2007, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This was the fourth meeting sponsored by the Clinical Immunology Society on Systemic Autoimmune Diseases and proved to be a resounding success.

Thirteen faculty members were selected to act as mentors to the attendees, to attend the school, and give didactic presentations during the program.  One of the invited faculty members, Yaniv Sherer, was a past school attendee invited back to serve as a faculty member.

Sixty-three applications were received for the School. Twenty-five participants were selected and two alternates.  Fourteen of these individuals were from the US and eleven were international participants. Countries represented included: Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United States.

Participants presented their case or abstract during a twenty minute presentation. Ten minutes was allocated after each presentation for discussion. The faculty presentations consisted of thirty minute didactic presentations with fifteen minutes for discussion. Faculty and fellows took turns chairing each time block.
