The School in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases took place at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel, April 1-5, 2009 in Boston, MA. This was the sixth School sponsored by the Clinical Immunology Society on Systemic Autoimmune Diseases and proved to be a resounding success.

Ten faculty members were selected to act as mentors to the fellows, attend the school, and give didactic presentations during the program. One of the invited faculty members, Marc Natter, was a past school attendee invited back to serve as a faculty member.

Twenty fellows were selected to attend from the outstanding group of applications that were received. Eight of these individuals were from the US and twelve were international participants. Nine of the participants were male and eleven female. Countries represented included: Argentina, Australia, Bulgaria, China, Finland, Germany, India, Israel, Netherlands, Philippines, Switzerland, and the United States.

Participants presented their case or research project during a twenty minute presentation. Ten minutes was allocated after each presentation for discussion. The faculty presentations consisted of thirty minute didactic presentations with fifteen minutes for discussion. Faculty and fellows took turns chairing each session.
