CIS Annual Meeting

The 2010 CIS Annual Meeting was held on May 20, 2010 at the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel in Philadelphia and was a terrific success! The 2010 Annual Meeting had a multi-disciplinary focus on "New Biotherapeutics and Immune Deficiency" including thematic sessions on Mucosal Immunology, Cancer Immunotherapy, Dermatology, and New Therapeutics in Autoimmunity. A common theme of the speakers was the increasingly deep pipeline of biologic therapies that are being developed for cancer, chronic inflammation and allergy. As the recipient of the Presidential award, Tadamitsu Kishimoto delivered an outstanding presentation summarizing the development of therapeutics that target IL-6. During the Keynote address, Garrison Fathman summarized the meeting and proposed new directions in personalized medicine.

The success of the Annual Meeting was in large part due to the efforts of its outstanding organizing committee.. The meeting co-chairs, Drs. Carl June and Steven Holland, ensured that the lectures covered a broad spectrum of interesting and relevant topics which allowed all delegates to hear something pertaining to their science and their practice. We would like to thank our energetic and effective session chairs and speakers.

Lastly, we would like to extend our appreciation to the Annual Meeting supporters, Abbott, MedImmune and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America who made this meeting possible.
