2005 Spring School in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases

The Clinical Immunology Society has developed an intensive four-day residential School to be held March 2-6, 2005 in Santa Fe, NM. The topic of this School will be Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, geared towards fellows in training, with a primary goal of education on the diagnosis, pathogenesis, and treatment of systemic autoimmune diseases. The secondary goals are to attract and develop future scientists in academic medicine; and to enhance the awareness of clinical immunology and its importance in scientific discoveries and clinical application. A third goal is to stimulate future collaborations between young investigators in different medical centers and countries, and between young investigators and experienced physician / scientists in the field. The intention of the school is to train new clinical investigators in this field in an informal setting.

The School will be residential in character, and held in an informal location that can attract applicants from America, Europe and Asia. There will be 10 faculty and 25 places for participants.

Participants should be with in their last two years of training and must hold an MD or equivalent; these individuals should be rheumatologists or internists, or scientists committed to the clinical management of patients with systemic autoimmune diseases. These candidates may have backgrounds in immunology, adult medicine, rheumatology, hematology, laboratory immunology, or allergy/immunology. All participants are expected submit either a case of interest or an abstract of their work.
